Over 1 million native birds die in the US every day by colliding with glass surfaces like the sides of this bus shelter. Oklahoma State University is leading the way in studying this important bird conservation issue to find a solution. To address, Oklahoma State University has treated bus shelters with Feather Friendly markers shown to be effective at reducing collisions.
This is one of the first field studies of the effectiveness of a collision deterrent installed on glass. By comparing collisions between treated and untreated shelters they will gain insight into reducing this major threat to native bird populations.
