The Issue
Since 1970, we have 3 billion fewer birds worldwide. The second leading human-related cause of this loss is a result of reflective and transparent glass collisions. North America alone loses an estimated 1 billion birds to this serious conservation issue every year. This is because birds cannot perceive glass and often mistake it for surrounding habitat reflected on the exterior window surface or attempt to fly through glass barriers to reach habitat that can be seen on the other side.
The Solution
For over 16 years, Feather Friendly® has offered bird collision mitigation solutions with over 5 million sq ft of product installed worldwide. Our markers make the glass visible to birds and prevent deadly collisions without compromising a building’s aesthetics or views.
Unlike a full film application, only the markers remain on the glass, covering approximately 6% to 8% of the glass surface. As a result, there are no solar load concerns and durability and longevity of 15-plus years. Tested and approved by American Bird Conservancy, Dr. Daniel Klem Jr., Nation Audubon Society, and many other organizations. Independent studies such as the Peer Journal show a 95% reduction in strikes using Feather Friendly®.
